Bang Muay Thai is a striking system developed by Duane "Bang" Ludwig, a renowned martial artist and coach. It combines elements of traditional Muay Thai with techniques from other striking martial arts, such as boxing and kickboxing, along with concepts from mixed martial arts (MMA). The system emphasizes fluidity, efficiency, and versatility in striking, incorporating a wide range of techniques including punches, kicks, elbows, and knees.
Muay Thai is an excellent choice for those looking to burn calories and fat effectively. This high-intensity martial art combines aerobic and anaerobic exercise, which not only helps in rapid calorie burning but also enhances cardiovascular health. A typical session of Muay Thai can burn anywhere from 600 to over 1,000 calories per hour, depending on the intensity of the training and the individual's body weight and fitness level.

Stress is a part of modern life. It can have a negative impact on your physical, emotional, and mental health if you don’t find ways to minimize it. Working out regularly releases feel-good hormones called endorphins. Muay Thai workouts will help you maintain the proper hormonal balance so you can cope with stress as it arises. At the same time, Muay Thai can also make you feel better about yourself and your body, which contributes to good mental health and makes it less likely that stress will affect you.
I did Tae Kwon Do for two years in high school. I decided to try Muay Thai in December 2022. I don’t do Jiu Jitsu. I’m glad I came. The head coach, Don, adapts training to my needs. The assistant coaches take after him. The gym atmosphere is positive. Most coaches and students are men, but there are some women. The classes are a good blend of technique, conditioning, and drills. I’ve built muscles I didn’t know I had! The gym provides as many opportunities as one would like: Muay Thai classes Monday-Thursday plus sparring on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. The trials are generous, so give it a try!
I’ve been taking classes for about six months at Bang. The experience was more than expected, I’ve learn about the sport of Muay Thai, practical defense with real world applications. At 39 years old it was intimidating to try something new, but the staff and students are always very supportive. Iam very happy I found this place to train.
As a lifetime athlete, Muay Thai posed a new challenge, and I've come to love the art, heart, and lifestyle of the MMA-inspired world at Bang Muay Thai Novi, hosted by IMA. I've met great teammates from all walks of life, and whether you're a beginner or experienced, this team and instructors will help you reach your next level.

Mark Miller5 StarBamg Muay Thai is a great program that has been proven to work effectively in both self defense and in professional combat sports. And at the Novi location, there is a great group of people who support and care for each other to help each other learn and grow. I've been an instructor here for a couple years now. I'm very proud to be part of a team that shares my ideals of what martial arts is for and how to teach it. We have been able to help people, kids and adults alike, to build confidence and to be able to defend themselves in high pressure situations. Especially our younger students. We've helped kids that are being bullied at school be able to navigate through the situation with confidence while keeping themselves and others safe. Bang Muay Thai Novi is a great place to learn and grow as a martial artist. If I did not whole heartedly believe that, I would not be working here.Tuesday 2nd April 2024
